I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Nightmare Editor

My heart bleeds as you cut
Hacking back each careful word
Cutting right into my soul
Carefully thought
Painfully sought
Perfect prose
You slice with unfeeling
Crop and strike
Pick and trim
Do you know my heart is bleeding?
Blood running thin?
Manuscript left a shell
A shadow of its glory
May as well be writing jingles
All that’s left of my story
