I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

My Child

I loved you before I knew of you
More than anything wanted you here
Discovered that I get to have you
The greatest day of all my years
Joy and excitement can’t fathom
Ecstatic, euphoric fall short
There’s no word expressing my gladness
That to me you would be born
Those months, though tiresome often
Were full of anticipation
A family you would make of us
Never could I want for more
