Don’t Fix Me Poem

Home » Blog » Don’t Fix Me Poem

I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Don’t try to fix me

This is my sadness to hold
It’s not your to job to unfold
You don’t need to work through my puzzle
Try to take on my troubles
Just be here with me
Not to carry me

This is my anger to deal
It’s not your place to heal
You didn’t inflict it
Nor can you fix it
I don’t need your wisdom or skills

Stay and hold my hand
I’ll work through my own problems
A shoulder to lean on
Open ear, just listen

I may fall apart, that’s okay
I know you won’t sweep me away
You don’t need to put me together
Maybe brokenness has made me better
A living Kintsugi, still fragile
More beautiful for all my crackle
