Untamed Places Poem

I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Untamed Places

Wandering the wilds
Smell of pines and earth
Warm sun on my face
Music of brook and creek
Chorusing over rock and sand
Bird and animal joining in
Buzzing insect not outdone
Breeze whips up to cool my skin

Fresh moss and grass
Tiny flower fighting for a chance
Among shadows of giants
Peace and beauty surround
All seems still and gentle
Though wild it truly be
Will roar and bear its teeth
Any moment as it needs
