I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets. I did not follow prompts, but decided to share some laughs with the world. Each poem this month is silly, goofy, or fun just to bring you a smile and a little joy, which we can all use more of.
Torture
I sit in this chair as asked to do,
to study well, but need to move.
The urge to wiggle and shift about
has me squirming and wriggling like a trout.
I let slip a giggle as the seat squeaks and squawks.
Who made this chair and why could not,
I sit on a bean bag or bouncy ball?
A pillowy poof, swing hung from the wall?
Anything a bit more comfy fun
to roost my derriere upon.
A chair’s a thing of torture
to ask a child to stay.
In truth I should be allowed
to run outside and play.
