Each poem this month is silly, goofy, or fun just to bring you a smile and a little joy, which we can all use more of.
Oh, Sweet Delight
Upon the table there is the most creamy, delectable treat
A bar of chocolate I am longing to eat
But mother says it’s not the time, I haven’t had my dinner
I should go out to play and wait until that later hour
I do obey, I go and play, but nothing can distract me
Upon my mind is that sweet delight just sitting there to taunt me
I sneak inside, attempt to hide, every noise and rattle
Foot fall, breath, and creaking door threaten to give away the battle
Slowly and so quietly I peel back the wrapper
Just one bite, oh heaven’s delight! Melts upon my tongue
Mother walks in, I know I’ve sinned, but I can’t stop from smiling
Who ate the bar? She asks with scorn
Can’t speak for I’m in rapture
