Empty Heart Poem

I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Empty Heart

This heart you held
Turned to dust
Learned of your betrayal
Cracked and Shattered
Split apart
Sift into the gutter
Float away on the wind
Empty heart shaped hole
Can’t tell how pain remains
When there’s nothing there
