Unbuilt Poem

I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Unbuilt

Deconstructed piece by piece
Unbuilt by your words
Slowly taken down
Taken apart
Try to hold together
Despite the holes pierced through my heart
A bandage only holds so long
A mask to hide behind
Eventually a building crumbles
From too many cracks in the mortar
Too many missing bricks
Crashes down, turn to rubble
Never whole again
