I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets. I did not follow prompts, but decided to share some laughs with the world. Each poem this month is silly, goofy, or fun just to bring you a smile and a little joy, which we can all use more of.
Teleportation
The cat in my window stares into my soul.
Am I telepathic? Because I instantly know,
He’s asking for food and cuddles and pats.
But no, when I open it up he just sets.
He sits there and eyes me with judgment, disdain.
I lean down to pet him, he bolts far away.
Guess I’m not telepathic, I had it all wrong
Oh! He’s here right behind me, in my room all along!
Did he jump through a portal, or transport through air?
He was out, now he’s in, lounging here on my chair.
I saw none of his movements, nor heard any sound
He was out, now he’s in, and exceedingly proud.
A sly little smile on the edge of his mouth
Licks invisible dirt off his paw just to flout.
Shrugging, I close the window up tight
Mysterious cat, keep your secrets, all right.
