I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month). I’m writing a poem a day for the month of April and posting it here on my blog to share. Go to NaPoWriMo.net for more details and to view many more participating poets.

Child Find Your Wings

Going by too fast
On to new adventures
No more everyday
You’ll want to find your way

All grown up at last
Or so you tell me
But I still see a child
Small and shy and wild

Wouldn’t leave my side
Out of my sight you cried
Now the tears have dried
Find your wings and fly

Hard to look toward change
Though excited for your life
The confidence you’ll gain
Learning who you are

Trying on for size
The type of life for you
Hope it won’t be long
To find the one that’s true
